# Earning

How does a writer earn $BABEL? \

The DAO will allocate a certain number of $BABEL to reward good works within a specific period of time. (i.e. allocate 1M $BABEL every month)

Every citizen (Tree & Author badge holder) has certain votes to delegate to pieces that they believe are adding value to the whole IP. \
As the citizens delegate their votes, the allocated $BABEL will be issued to the authors of the pieces according to the number of votes they receive by the end of the period. It is basically a "[Coordinape](https://coordinape.com/#how-it-works)" system. \

With this design, authors who write appreciated pieces will earn more $BABEL than those who don't. As our validation process doesn't ensure the artistic quality of the piece, this mechanism facilitates that. \
\
Authors can then exchange $BABEL to other currencies (i.e. USD) on the exchanges.
